I used to work for Transport For Greater Manchester, and would advice people how to get these passes. I remember them being introduced. They were a real vote winner (lets face it, our older citizens vote). It wash't long before I was getting calls to see if there were any buses from Manchester to say... South End On Sea (place name of fav seaside resort here).
